Different contexts. A shared discipline.

I’m Blake Ellison. My focus is Japanese / English bilingual data collection.

My career in data collection has taken me from websites to mobile apps, from game consoles to manufacturing. The systems and vocabulary change. The work still begins with understanding what people need to know and deciding what must be collected to answer it.

I work across Japanese and English, connecting business questions with the people responsible for implementation. My experience includes Sony as an employee and DCG as a co-founder.

In manufacturing, my delivered work covered production events, quality and testing, and product and material history. It supported production decisions through requirements work, data integration, and reporting. Equipment-signal collection was an early area of exploration, rather than a completed implementation.

Questions worth carrying forward

This site is where I’ll share work and writing about data collection: the technical choices, the team capabilities, and the translation between contexts that make it useful.
